Vande Bharat Train的点评
点评：Have been, for a while, reading about Vande Bharat as a stellar achievement of Indian Railways and got this maiden opportunity to experience it.
Waited with bated breath & great expectancy at Raipur railway train station well ahead of time for the so-called "futuristic" train, an example of "Make in India" and the new, modern, India.
The high spirits started to sag when the station clock ticked 06:13 and the train was nowhere in sight. My colleague looked at the IRCTC app and said the departure from origin was already three minutes delayed and eventually she arrived seven minutes late. The thrilled was already dampened.
Next came the seats: comfortable but lacked manufacturing finesse. Footrests did not appear strong enough and between my co-passenger and I, we could treat the passengers ahead to a rollicking game of side-see-saw (as could the passengers behind us could treat us to).
Such was the design of the seats.
The tray table on the armrest was a heavy steel structure which could well be a pair of dumbbells at the gym.
Coming to food and service. Food quantity & quality was good. However, could not understand the logic of multiple handling of food tray and tray paper.
Breakfast was served in three courses. And lunch in two courses.
For each course the server replaced the tray, with new tray paper each time. What a waste of time, effort, and above all paper.
An efficient option would be to provide each seat with a small garbage bag to keep all garbage from the journey in. And take the garbage bag after the journey, rather than create such massive waste.
Lastly, despite several unscheduled stops and slowdowns, the train arrived almost ten minutes late at destination.
