点评:The Citadel has a much older and more complex history than may appear to be the case at first sight. It looks from the ramparts to be very low and very fragmented, but it has a really interesting and very long history.
The surrounding ditches, ravelins and other defence works are very impressive - you weren't meant to get in if they didn't want you to!
Walking round the grounds gives you a clear impression of the many phases of building and reconstruction which have taken place - goiung back into the Middle Ages.
The Museum France Roger Rodière is now in the citadel (and not a separate location in the town as it clearly used to be; closed down?). What is on display there is obviously only a selection of what the (town) museum must originally have had on shown but it has some very interesting and ancient items.
It is possible to walk on the walls in some parts of the Citadel - giving you fine views (though these can be had from the town's rampart walk).
They are obviously working to clear and restore the site but even so it is worth the entry fee.
