点评：Located at the bottom of the hill from our hotel. We decided to go for a ride on our last day as we’d missed out on the Citta Alta funicular as we used the bus instead.
The funicular appears to run every quarter of an hour or so. It had just descended when we tried to walk in. There were quite a few people waiting (not enough so that you’d be denied entry) and 5 Italian ladies on the machine so it took us a while to get in. When we eventually did get in the funicular was ready to go. Unfortunately we were behind 5 Italian ladies who appeared to struggle reading Italian instructions. The funicular driver initially appeared reluctant to get involved until he realised they wouldn’t let him up the hill without them.
Then we were there, in front of a machine with Italian instructions. Selecting the ticket we wanted (length of time) was the easy bit. You then have to select method of payment. Unfortunately we don’t know the Italian for credit card, debit card, transport pass or cash, so the driver had to drag himself over to sort it. If you’re not going to put a translation on the machine symbols or drawings would be nice.
It was €3.70 for both of us.
Anyway, the climb was nice. We went past the back of our hotel after 5 minutes. We never allowed ourselves enough time to do it justice so we missed out on the restaurant, cafe, castle and monastery and descended shortly after.
