What a fantastic green nature space
Hanningfield Nature Discovery Centre的点评
点评：After staying overnight in the nearby Greenwood Hotel, we were looking for somewhere to have a morning walk and this came up, so along we came for our inaugural visit.
Firstly, well signposted from the road, large free car park and an interesting visitor centre with pleasant cafe and nature shop. One key point is that no dogs are allowed on the nature reserve, so not a suitable space for dog owners, but obviously also a key point for bird watchers and nature lovers.
The key selling point here are the walks to be had through the nature reserve, of which there are three main signposted trails. As others have mentioned there is a very good family and buggy friendly Wind in the Willows trail, at 1.2km, which is along well-defined flat paths and with several wonderful, themed sculptures en route. Then there is the moderately graded Well wood trail, which gives access to the four bird hides on the reservoir, and takes about an hour. And finally, the slightly shorter Hawks Wood trail, which is marked as challenging, but for anyone who can step over obstacles, it really isn’t.
We took the Well Wood trail out, detouring to look at all four hides, and the continued on for a stop and a coffee at the Hanningford Waterside Park, before walking through Well Wood to join the Hawks Wood trail and return to the Discovery Centre and it was a thoroughly enjoyable three hours.
Plenty of flower, fauna and wildlife boards around the trails and the ant colonies to be found on the Hawks Wood trail were particularly fascinating.
