Fort Macon State Park的点评
点评：There is something for everyone at this historic Fort. The fort itself is fascinating to explore and they have exhibits that show all the things the fort has been used for over the years including when it was used as a prison. Great for the kids to run around and burn off a lot of energy and good for everyone else to learn some things. In the fall, they even transform it into a haunted house!
The second thing is a newer exhibit building, that is enclosed and air conditioned! Short films, interesting exhibits about not just the fort but also the surrounding areas.
Then there is the beach itself. The fort is located on the inlet from the Atlantic Ocean to Beaufort. There are outside showers, restrooms, a pavilion to get out of the sun and beautiful scenery.
For those who prefer something more active, there are two hiking trails. One is through the old growth Maritime Forest and the other is through the sand dunes where you can see a gun turret from World War II used to help protect the coast from German u boats. It really has something for everyone here!
