点评：First and foremost, Rye Playland is an historic landmark, and for that reason alone it is a special place. For those who lament the loss of the old Penn Station or wish they could relive the glory days of Coney Island's early theme parks, a visit to Rye Playland will cheer your heart. It's like stepping back in time.
From a strictly consumer POV, Playland is lacking in a few key areas.
Even if you purchase a ticket online, you still have to wait in the 30-min+ line at the ticket booth with those who are buying tickets there. That's an issue that could be solved in 24 hours by installing scanners at the gates. Why it hasn't been done, I have no idea, but that is visitors' critical first impression of Playland, and it's one of operational incompetence. "If they can't get this right...."
The kiddie land rides are old. I can appreciate the historical nature of the rides, but for God's sake, open a can of paint in the offseason and make an attempt to make them look decent.
Several attractions and structures were in need of attention. The stand-up rollercoaster was out of commission until 2025, according to a sign.
The park itself was clean, with grass well tended.
Apparently a $125 million revitalization project was started in 2022, starting with the restrooms--which were indeed new and clean. The arcade was also clean and featured mostly new games. A few were broken, but overall it was fine.
If the project continues as planned, I'm cautiously optimistic. There's nothing I'd like to see more than a vibrant Rye Playland.
