点评:If you care about animals, we do not recommend visiting Sumbawa for whale shark tours.
There are other destinations, such as Donsol (Philippines), where you can see whale sharks in an ethical and responsible way, without contributing to harmful practices—and often at a more affordable price.
We came to Sumbawa with the hope of having a respectful, nature-based encounter with whale sharks. We clearly requested an experience that did not involve feeding or interfering with the animals’ natural behavior. Unfortunately, during the activity, we witnessed the sharks being fed to attract them. This kind of practice alters their habits, makes them dependent on human interaction, and may impact their health and migration.
This is not responsible tourism—it’s exploitation disguised as ecotourism. We were not informed of the feeding practices beforehand, and no ethical alternative was offered.
It is disheartening to see how a vulnerable species is treated primarily as a photo opportunity.
If you value wildlife and ethical travel, we strongly encourage you to research thoroughly and reconsider visiting Sumbawa for this purpose. There are more sustainable and respectful ways to experience marine life.
We chose not to enter the water and requested to return immediately. Although no refund was offered, we stand by our values.
Sometimes, it's better not to see the animals at all than to witness them under unnatural conditions.
