We purchased five (2 adults / 3 young teens), 12:30 pm to 8:00 pm lift tickets on Friday, January 28th at approximately 10 pm for the following day (Saturday, January 29th). The snowstorm, wind and all, wasn't a surprise. The surprise was that at 1:00 pm on Saturday when we arrived we were told the mountain was closing at 4:30 that day due to wind.
We were told by the ticket window that there were no refunds but had two options.
- ski the few hours left
or
- return the following day and ski from 8-4
We then explained to our 3 teenagers that we will NOT be skiing today, but the good news is we can ski the following day, on Sunday. Problem was that one of the teens wasn't going to be there the following day , so she wanted to ski the few hours remaining in the day. Great, so one parent stays with the one kid to ski and the rest of us drive back to our rented house.
45 mins later, and just about home, I get a call stating that the information from the ticket window wasn't accurate nor authorized and the option was to now return to the mountain and ski from 2:30 - 4:30 or eat the tickets.
Now, I explain to the teens that we need to head back to the mountain and we can only ski for 2 hours and that we are NOT going to be able to ski the following day.
Long story short, when I returned to speak with guest services, the Mountain's general manager stated that on the website it reads, there are NO REFUNDS. Furthermore, management wasn't going to honor the information that the ticket agent spoke incorrectly on which ended up costing another 90 mins due to traveling back to the house and then back to the mountain.
That's bad business......in addition to not honoring the offer, I asked if this employee was informed that they gave false information so that others wouldn't experience this mess.......management stated that they didn't speak to that employee about it.
The mountain knew they were getting a storm.......they knew the winds would be bad....They should've put that notice out the night before people bought online tickets....or at the very minimum honor their employees mistake.
I live in a town 2 hours away where all the cars have stickers for this mountain.....we will never go back
