A fascinating look at Blackpool’s entertainment history

点评：We visited Showtown almost by accident and were very glad we did. Tucked away near Blackpool Tower, this modern museum tells the story of Blackpool’s entertainment heritage through a mix of objects, photographs, films, and interactive displays, suitable for both adults and children.
The highlights for me were the exhibits on the Illuminations, Wakes Weeks, and Blackpool’s long association with entertainment. The museum does a great job of explaining why Blackpool became such an important holiday destination and how generations of visitors came here to enjoy themselves.
As someone whose grandparents regularly holidayed in Blackpool and who grew up driving through the Illuminations with my family, I found parts of the museum particularly nostalgic. It’s well laid out, easy to explore in between an hour and ninety minutes, and wasn’t crowded during our visit.
