点评:Being passionate active hickory golf player ourselves, we visited the Hickory Golf Workshop (associated with St. Andrew's Golf Company) at St. Andrews in October 2025 on a Sunday, the final day of the Dunhill Links Championship. Stu Fraser was there to host us, and after a warm Scottish welcome he told us about the early history of golf based on the many interesting exhibits in their little "workshop museum". Then we visited the actual workshop - the original old machines they are using for restoring original hickory clubs as well as manufacturing new replicas. Thereafter we got our hands on some restoration work, where we improved the shaft extension, grip and whipping of one of my own original hickory clubs that I use in competitions. The visit was a truly wonderful experience with Stu Fraser being the perfect kind host sharing his knowledge and Scottish heritage. For hickory golfers a visit is a must, and also for everybody who appreciates the art and tradition of passionate craftsmanship and restoring i general. Personally, I also like the approach at St. Andrew's Golf Company, how they combine the old traditions with their own creative solutions and designs for hickory golf clubs.
