点评：With independence confirmed in 1776 and the Federal Constitution Convention verifying the eponymous document in 1787, the new nation set out to house its Third Session of the First United States Congress. Work began on Congress Hall in 1787 and lasted two years. It is the oldest standing building to have housed the United States Congress and has seen the ratification of three states (Vermont, Kentucky, and Tennessee), the inauguration of two Presidents (Washington and Adams), and a more recent meeting of President-elect Obama with a group of governors during the 2008 financial crisis. I learned all of these facts and more during a twenty-minute tour of the premises that consisted of an introductory lecture by a Park Ranger, followed by a self-guided tour of the first and then second floor of the building. There were numerous storyboards about politics and events on the ground floor that the guide explained after his speech, and he remained upstairs for the second half of the tour to answer further questions. Overall, I found the experience as brief as it was interesting. Is it worth a dedicated, separate visit excluding the surrounding sites (Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, etc.)? Probably not. Is it worth a visit in addition to the same? Most definitely.
