Amazing tour at Hanai Hives!

点评：We had an amazing experience at Hanai Hives and would highly recommend their tour! We went with a group of 4 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 and 6), and everyone had an amazing time. I was a bit concerned that the beekeeping suits would be uncomfortably hot in the summer, but the whole space is beautifully shaded, like walking through a botanic garden specifically curated for the bees. Katie is a wealth of knowledge and is clearly so passionate about the bees, the local community, and educating as many people as she can about beekeeping. She was so generous with her time and made sure to give everyone in the group plenty of information and opportunity to ask questions. She carefully pointed out all the different bees, from the larvae to the queen bee, and let us hold different frames from the hive so we could observe the different stages as the bees constructed the honeycomb. She was fantastic with kids and adults, and she made sure everyone was included and engaged. The different honey varieties were delicious, and I can see why so many high-end places on the North Shore come to Hanai Hives to supply their honey. It was so special to find a place willing to offer private tours rather than focusing on maximizing profits; you get so much more in-depth when your group can really get up close and personal and ask all the questions as they come up.
