Well worth a visit for art and architecture enthusiasts
水牛城市政厅的点评
点评：This was a tour of the art and architecture in Buffalo’s city hall. It’s a magnificent building, built between 1929 and 1932. The style is classic Art Deco, 32 stories of it. Inside, the lobby is a long arched space, plus four arched hallways, the long spaces reminiscent of the Iroquois longhouses that were once tradition in the area. The ceilings are tiled in designs mimicking Native American designs (not necessarily authentic). The floors are marble, with beautiful inlays. There are murals, sculptures, flat metalwork, paintings, and so much more … overwhelming the visitor. The tour visits the city council meeting room, the treasury office, and the mayor’s office, before heading to the observation deck, from which one can see spectacular views of the city. Unfortunately, the deck is not accessible to anyone who uses a mobility device, as the elevators only go so far, and the deck is 60 steps above that point.
