点评:An incredible and vast Teutonic Castle picturesquely set on the banks of a river. The castle has a long and rich history spanning hundreds of hours and is heavily featured throughout Polish history.
You really need to give yourself a whole day to do the castle justice. We booked our tickets in advance via the website which I would recommend - no waiting in queues, just collect your audio guide at the counter and off you go. The audioguide is c 3 hours of content but by the time you factor in walking between things, taking some photos, grabbing a coffee and some lunch, you can easily clock up 5 hours. We visited on a Sunday not realising that things wrap up early (about 15:00) so wouldn’t recommend starting later than 11:00 to give yourself a chance to see it all. The audioguide is really good and intuitive so definitely recommend this. The paths and courtyards are all cobbled which is fine if you’re able-bodied but you might struggle if you have walking difficulties, especially in the rain, so bring appropriate footwear. The restaurant seemed to be full every time we tried to go but there’s a little cafe that is by the exit down a flight of stairs that was pretty quiet that did a good pumpkin soup and filled bagels.
All-in-all, an incredible insight into a piece of Polish history and architecture that is not to be missed on a visit to Poland!
