点评：As a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings, the first time I saw Matthias Church and Fisherman’s Bastion, I couldn’t help but feel like I had stepped into a fantasy world. ✨🏰 With its fairytale towers, colourful rooftops and incredible views over Budapest, this place feels like it could have been created by elves. But behind the magic is centuries of real history. ⛪ Matthias Church dates back to the 13th century, originally built around 1015 on the site of an earlier church according to tradition, with the current Gothic structure developing mainly from the 14th and 15th centuries. It became one of the most important churches in Hungary, hosting royal weddings and the coronations of Hungarian kings. One of its most recognisable features is its stunning Zsolnay ceramic tiled roof, added during the 19th century restoration. The colourful patterns make it one of the most unique church roofs in Europe. Next to it stands Fisherman’s Bastion, a much newer landmark built between 1895 and 1902 to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of the Hungarian state. Its seven towers represent the seven Magyar tribes who founded Hungary. Today, this area of Buda Castle is one of Budapest’s most magical places to explore. A perfect mix of legends, architecture and history, where every stone has a story to tell.
