We opted to take the tour and I think it was really worth it

点评：The Opera House is definitely worth a visit - it's so beautiful inside and has such a fascinating history. We opted to take the tour and I think it was really worth it. Our guide was really informative and friendly, and gave lots of really great info and tit-bits about the Opera House.
The small snippet of opera at the end of the tour is such a great way to end it - lighthearted and fun. The nearby cafe is lovely too.
My only issue is my mum found it a bit difficult getting around - she uses a cane and found the continuous up and down the stairs a struggle - and she wasn't the only one in the group. We did notice a lift, but this along with the bathrooms was cordoned off - I did ask t use the bathroom at one point and they refused which rubbed me the wrong way a bit.
The opera at the end also wasn't conducted on the stage - just in a stairway. It still sounded fantastic but it meant we had to sit on the stairs which again, was a struggle for my mum to get up from.
It was a real shame the lack of consideration as it was the only dampener on a really great experience.
