点评:My husband and I did the ‘Kalimera’ morning walk with Arthur and Lexi, and although it’s been nearly a month and we’re back home in the autumnal cold now, we’re STILL talking about what a fantastic experience it was. If you’re curious about the island’s recent history – or you’ve ever driven past Kefalonia’s abandoned buildings and wondered about the lives once lived there – this is absolutely the walk for you.
Arthur helps you truly understand what life was like pre- and post-earthquake, and because his explanations come from real connections with local people and their first-hand family histories, everything he shares feels all the more moving and respectful. We noticed little snippets of life in the old village that we would never have understood if we’d wandered there on our own.
Our only wish is that we’d done this walk ten years ago, on our first visit to the island – it helps you orientate and see Kefalonia through a richer lens overall. Thank you, Arthur and Lexi. We’ll definitely be back to explore more of the old village with you both.
