点评:We decided to go to Belle Grove in the middle of a very warm Thursday afternoon. It was lovely. As we got there at 1:30, and the next house tour didn't start until 2:15, we were given some fans and invited to check out the informative panels outside the gift shop and walk the grounds. We did, but it was so hot that we decided to sit at a picnic bench in the shade next to the teaching garden in back of the house. There was a breeze and it was a lovely place to sit and take in the views.
Scott was our tour guide and he was very engaging and informative and helped to bring the home's former occupants to life, both owners and enslaved persons, as well as military men during the Civil War. The house had no AC, but there were electric fans so they helped. It was most definitely worth the $15 admission fee ($1 off if you have a National Parks Pass).
There was a large group ahead of us, but there was only one other couple on our house tour. Definitely recommend for adults and teens, but may not be best for very young children.
