点评:Our guided tour of the manor house, scheduled for 45-60 minutes, actually lasted 85 minutes and was worth every extra second. Kristen, Belle Grove's Executive Director, gave us a comprehensive and lively interpretation of this 18th century home and plantation and and the historical events that happened there since the house was built. The site has been professionally and expertly researched and curated, and that all came through during the tour. There's an excellent exhibit in the basement of the manor house on the lives of the enslaved people who lived and worked at Belle Grove. This is a very worthwhile and scenic site to visit if you're interested in Colonial or Civil War-era history. There are picnic tables on the grounds and plenty of parking. We saw this historic site mentioned in the Smithsonian Associates magazine and were inspired to visit.
