点评:Sunday 26th May and we were on a Tui organised trip to Saona Island and this small Port was the departure point for our catamaran.
Bayahíbe is a small town on the shore of the Caribbean Sea, a tourist destination mainly due to the numerous boats travelling to and from Saona Island. The Port
serves as an embarkation point for boat trips to the Island,
As we alighted from our coach we were surrounded by street sellers offering us a variety of goods, hats, t shirts, jewellery, waterproof pouches for phones and so much more.
The small Port was rather busy with numerous tour boats, catamarans and other boats tied up around some jetties. There were also a number of smaller boats parked up on the sand. Other larger boats were anchored up out at sea and smaller boats ferried passengers out to them.
It is basically a sandy beach situated in a cove with some jetties, all a bit makeshift
When we arrived back at Bayahibe, from the Island, it had certainly come alive, in fact it was a bit chaotic and could easily get detached from your Tour Guide. The street sellers were out in force mingling we the throngs of people returning, all the boats seemed to arrive back at the same time.
All the restaurants and bars, that were closed earlier in the day were now open, adding to the atmosphere and chaos.
