Excellent local history museum
New Buffalo Railroad Museum的点评
点评：This is a fascinating museum that tells the local history of the New Buffalo area very well. Though this museum is housed in a recreation of an old train depot there is a lot of other history in the depot and the various train cars that act as an annex to the main structure. It is really neat to see the old Pullman troop transport railcar and to get a sense of how service members traveled in a previous time. There is an excellent exhibit in the box car about military history unique to New Buffalo. This museum is just along the way to downtown New Buffalo, and it is definitely worth a stop to get an idea of how New Buffalo developed as a town.
The Admission fee for this museum is free, but donations are appreciated.
It would probably take one around one hour to fully go through all the exhibits. If one is into model trains, then there is a large HO model train set in the depot. With the press of a button one can activate the model trains and watch them go around.
The atmosphere of this place takes one back in time to when train travel was the norm. It is incredible how volunteers recreated an old depot from the original blueprints.
Crowd sizes are a non-issue at this museum, and one can get an intimate look at exhibits here without having to worry about large groups of people.
The Staff here are very friendly and knowledgable, and they are great resources.
