A truly special experience - thank you Sa!

点评：My husband and I visited the Krabi sanctuary at the beginning of October for one of the 90 minute sessions. Our time in Krabi was limited otherwise we would have done the longer half-day experience but even with the 90 minutes we felt as if we got so much out of this tour. Since it's low season we were on our own with our guide, Sa. Sa is so knowledgeable about the elephants and friendly too, he gave us lots of information on our walk around the jungle and we felt we learned a lot from him. It's clear to see how much these people genuinely care about the elephants and they're championing the way for ethical elephant experiences in Thailand. They are honest about the fact they need to raise more money to build a proper shelter for the elephants to use at night time, and so are doing their best in the meantime. It's clear to see these people genuinely care about the animal's welfare.
We didn't have to walk far to see the elephants and we heard them before we saw them at the water hole. It was so heartwarming to hear them and see them playing and bathing together. Sa gave us lots of time to observe and take photographs and take in the sights, we never felt rushed. It was hot and humid the day we were walking around so the watermelon ice drink was a welcome refreshment before the short trek back to the main building.
Overall I feel content and happy that this tour was the most ethical one I could have chosen and it was an experience that will stay with me forever. We hope to return again in the future and provide ongoing support via donations to the sanctuary.
