点评:This is no Niagara Falls. It is only a small flow, with water running down the steep, rugged cliffside and dashing onto the pebbly beach below.
It’s not big enough to be a destination in its own right but it is a nice feature to look out for if you are doing a short walk along the Clovelly beachfront.
There’s a catch though - you can only access the waterfall if you’re visiting Clovelly and Clovelly is a privately owned village. The whole village is privately owned, lock-stock-and-barrel, so you have to pay to enter. It’s quite unique. At first I thought £9.90pp seemed a lot to pay but it includes parking, and entry to the Fisherman’s Cottage Museum, Kingsley’s house and the separate site of Clovelly Court Gardens and in any case, Clovelly is completely charming. We had a lovely few hours and it was well worth the entry fee.
The tide was out when we were there so we could easily walk across to the waterfall (I’m not sure you’d be able to reach it at full tide).
From The Red Lion, it is only a short walk past Crazy Kate’s Cottage and the Lifeboat House. You can walk right up to the waterfall so it’s fun for kids to do. Its worth noting that the beach is entirely made up of large, rounded grey pebbles so it’s not very comfortable in bare feet and can be a little slippery and rough on the ankles.
