点评:Decided to visit the new Greenhouse Cafe for breakfast before doing a bit of shopping. After previous terrible experience in the old cafe we thought we’d give it a try.
The new layout is cavernous, noisy and cold.
The menu for breakfast is very limited with a poor choice of full English breakfast with only one egg and no mushrooms. I went for the eggs Benedict, which arrived drizzled with cold, bought in Hollandaise rather than a velvety, rich, homemade one. The poached eggs are precooked and then chilled, which is understandable considering a busy Sunday breakfast, however, placing cold eggs on cold ham and drizzling with cold packet Hollandaise is about as far from a Benedict as it could be.
My father in law had a bacon and egg sandwich with a fried egg that had spent longer in the pan than the old bacon fat the bacon had been cooked in. Normally, a bacon and egg sandwich should have a nice, runny yolk unless otherwise requested.
Needless to say, we won’t be back. Great effort trying to copy Garson’s Farm, but you missed the key element, good food!
