点评:It’s a beautiful place. One of my favorite stops on our ten day Iceland vacation! They have a hiking trail up the mesa to a Viking burial site (Hjörleifur’s, a early settler who was murdered by his Irish slaves) from the 800s. At the parking lot are very clean bathrooms and a picnic table. Exhibits include a working Viking ship replica and interactive strongman exhibits. I did the Hjörleifur’s stone for two reps! No, I’m not going to question their displayed weight! Read the trail map sign carefully before going up the mesa as there are two loops of different lengths I believe and my wife was gone for an hour while I waited and tried the strongman exhibits. I did not do the hike as there were elevation gains and I’m recovering from a torn calf. It was nice to just sit and enjoy the atmosphere for a while and look up the history of the place with the great cell reception. The yoda cave is just down the gravel road which is fun for a quick pic and there is beach access but I’m not sure if those are separate fees or not. The overall visit was a nice break from the car and could take you anywhere from 20 min to 1.5 hours depending on whether you hike or lift heavy stones or just take a quick pic of the photogenic Viking ship. There is a parking fee but it is private upkeep and you are on vacation so just enjoy the fact they alllow access. Improvements and sign installation were underway at the time of our visit.
