点评:This was such an unexpected pleasure. From the time we walked in until we walked out the door it was so much fun and a great learning experience at the same time.
The presentation at the start of the tour was extremely interesting. I thought I knew a lot about honey bees....I did not! But that was soon taken care of during the presentation part of the tour.
We were then shown how to put on the beekeeper suits which covered us from head to our shoes. We were also given instructions on things such as "don't swat at the bees, they can't get to you and it only upsets them" and other helpful hints.
We then walked to the bee hives. Our guide took one of them apart and let everyone hold one section. We also learned about the physical structure of the hive, the multiple jobs the workers have from the time they are born until they are taken away by the undertaker bees. Also learned about what the different sizes in the honeycomb mean, how a worker bee egg can be turned into a queen, what happens when two queens emerge at the same time and the short life of drones.
There is much more, but I'll leave that for you to learn!
