点评：We recently hired this function room for my mum’s 60th birthday, and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing.
We were told that the earliest we could access the room to set up was 5pm, despite the party starting at 6pm, which already gave us very little time. To make matters worse, when we arrived at 5pm there was nobody there to let us in. There is also no contact number available, so we had no way of getting hold of anyone, which caused unnecessary stress at the start of the evening.
We were happy to comply with the venue’s policy that children had to leave by 9pm, as this had been made clear beforehand. However, around midnight the manager approached me and said there weren’t enough people left for them to justify staying open until our agreed finish time of 2am, and that we would instead have to leave by 1am.
I found this extremely unfair. We had booked and paid for the venue until 2am, yet with only an hour’s notice we were expected to end the party early and pack everything away. Had we known this could happen, we would have planned the evening differently.
What made the situation even worse was the manager’s attitude. Rather than being understanding or apologetic, they came across as rude and dismissive, making us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers celebrating an occasion
Another disappointing aspect was the deposit policy. You are required to pay a £250 deposit, which is only refunded if the bar takes £2,000 on the night. Personally, I think this is quite an extreme target. We spent around £1,200 behind the bar, which is still a significant amount of money. It’s also frustrating to think that, had we been allowed to stay until the agreed finish time of 2am instead of being asked to leave at 1am, we may have generated more bar sales and had a better chance of reaching the £2,000 target to receive our deposit back.
The room itself was lovely, but the organisation, communication and customer service let the experience down. Sadly, because of how the evening was handled, I wouldn’t choose to book the venue again or recommend it to others.
