Small fishing port, without much charm
Eastport Historic District的点评
点评:On a shore excursion we ended up visiting Eastport instead of Bar Harbor, because of construction at the latter. It was not a good trade. Eastport is small (population circa 1,300), very laid back, and clearly, its best days are behind. Our coach drove through the "historic district", which was only a few blocks. There was one block with a few stores, some of them staffed by native Americans (Passamaquoddy) offering their tribe's handicraft. The rest of the town was spread out over the hill. We visited the port, which happened to be quite inactive at the time, so there was nothing to see. There is a large statue of a rugged sailor close to the dock, and another one representing a mermaid. The surrounding area was pretty because of the fall foliage.
