Our day out as an Active Retirement Group wouldn’t have been complete without a visit to Carraig Gardens. It was an absolute delight and one of the highlights of our day. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel so welcome by the owner, Una, whose warmth, friendliness, and passion for her garden shine through in every corner of this special place.
The gardens themselves are beautifully laid out and are a real treasure trove of colourful plants, shrubs, and flowers. What makes Carraig Gardens truly unique is the imaginative and artistic use of recycled and repurposed materials throughout the grounds, creating wonderful features that add charm, character, and plenty of talking points along the way.
To top off the experience, Una treated us to tea and coffee accompanied by some of the most delicious homemade baking, making us feel more like guests than visitors. It was the perfect way to round off a relaxing and inspiring afternoon.
If you are a gardening enthusiast, looking for ideas for your own garden, or simply searching for a peaceful place to unwind and enjoy nature, Carraig Gardens is a must-visit. A truly hidden gem that deserves to be better known—we would highly recommend it and will certainly be back.
