点评:Wilczy Szaniec (Wolf's Lair) was Hitler's headquarters during World War II. I took a tour lead by Marcin, who was a truly excellent guide. His comprehensive knowledge and sense of humour made the tour extraordinary. The Staff Meeting Block is of special historical interest. On 20 July 1944, Colonel von Stauffenberg tried to assassinate Hitler in this building. Four people were killed, but Hitler survived with just minor injuries.
You can also see the building built in 1941 as a shelter for official guests visiting Hitler. Later it was converted into an air raid bunker. Hitler lived in it from July to November 1944. Later, Hitler moved to another bunker. He lived in it for just 12 days in November 1944.
Don't miss the re-construction of the conference room where von Stauffenberg tried to assassinate Hitler on 20 July 1944. There was also an exhibit on the Warsaw Uprising. Hitler's decision to put down the uprising was made at Wolf's Lair.
The site is in ruins now, but you can imagine the way it was during the Second World War.
