Do not rent from AVIS Belgrade airport

点评：I booked a car with full coverage so that the deductible would be 0 Euro in case of damage. When I get to the Avis shack I need to sign a document concerning reporting an accident to the police in order to get to the car. I needed the car so I signed the document. I did not have any choice. There was a new small scratch on the car(I do not know when the car got scratched) when I returned it and was charged over 500 Euro even though I had full coverage. This was because I did not file a police report when the scratch happened. This is an absurd policy and implies:
1. Everytime after parking the car one has to take photos of it to ensure that there are no new scratches on the car.
2. If a new scratch is detected then this has to be reported to the police. The police must then come to the place where the scratch happened and make a report.
3. I guess the police in Serbia have much better things to do than look at scratches on cars so this could take several hours or even days, especially if the scratch occurred in a small village in the countryside.
4. There is no warning of the above policy when the car is booked so it comes as a surprise to everyone who rents from AVIS.
I have rented cars in many countries from many different companies and with full insurance I have always been able to leave the car without any questions asked. Even in Italy, I returned a car with a sizeable dent that occurred while being parked and the company said "no worries you have full coverage".
