Wow, great wine from Raglan! Who would have thought?

点评：while on a road trip around raglan and the coast area we stopped in for a wine tasting at Barrelled Wines. I was expecting this to be a winery that shipped in their grapes from elsewhere, but no, they have a small area of vines, mostly pinot gris and pinot noir. For $25 you get served 5 wines to taste. The servings were a decent size, and the wines were good, albeit a bit pricy, but you have to expect that for boutique winerys. I don't really drink Rose, but the two on offer, one was a dry (was very good) and the other semi sweet, was reasonable. The pinot gris was a little young, but the winners here were the Pinot Noir. There was a standard pinot noir and a reserve, both very very good. Personally i think they were better than some pinot noirs i have tasted in Marlborough and were almost on a par with some of the central otago pinots.
They also have accomodation on site - we werent stying there, but we have bookmarked them as a possible destination next time we head to raglan, but what we saw was awesome. well recommended.
