点评：After a long day of driving, we pulled up to the New York State Capitol building just before 6pm (parking on the street is free after 5pm), so we had about an hour to see the building. After going through security, and getting some info from the guards about how to see the most in the time we had available, we headed to the upper floors via elevator and made our way down, floor by floor. We started our foray through the building with the Great Western Staircase and its skylight and elaborate railings. Then the Senate Chamber and the Senate Staircase. On to the War Room with its beautiful ceiling murals paying tribute to New York’s military history. Enjoyed the Hall of Governors as we viewed the portraits in chronological order, identifying the many past and recent NY governors we know (despite being from another state!) and the Executive Chamber where the Governor receives guests and gives speeches and addresses. Loved the Hall of New York with its landscapes and street scenes of New York City and State. And so many sculptural details throughout the building! Truly was a pleasure to visit!! Note that guided tours are available to walk-ins earlier in the day.
