点评:Typical Destroyer tour. This is a ship that saw significant action in WW2, as it was commissioned in 1943 and decommissioned in 1946. The tour is self-guided. You are given a pamphlet with, I believe, 39 places to see. A worker will show you where to start for point #1, and you follow the arrows from there. I will admit, that twice we got "lost" and could not find the next point. I don't know if I should blame my daughter and I, or the layout. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed seeing a WW2 warship still in its 1940's condition.
The ship is actually not in the water, but dry-docked on land just off the Mississippi River. You can take some very nice pictures on the ship with the river and a bridge in the background.
What really made this a must-stop visit, is the Veterans Museum where you purchase your tickets. It is extremely well done.
Parking is limited, as there were only about 10 parallel parking spots in front of the museum, Luckily for us, there were two other vehicles parked. Perhaps there is more parking somewhere else, not sure as didn't need to ask.
