Family ski trip to Lech in April

点评：We were based in Lech at beginning of April which was perfect to reach all areas from Warth to St Anton. If you are a confident intermediate skier this is the place for you, you can ski for miles and miles! We only used a bus once (from Zurs back to Lech). Warth was a giant playground where we had great fun. We originally only used Zurs to get to St Anton, then realised it was a fantastic area to spend a whole day in. Stuben and St Christoph areas were also great.
We didn’t get any new snow but they managed to keep the pistes in great shape even with it being the end of the season. Mainly only lost the use of a few blacks here and there. But the runs down to Lech got very chopped up by the end of the day. We didn’t find any real lift queues but they do like to pack people in on the cable cars - thank goodness they were short rides! Most of the lifts are fast and comfy. Some are quite high tech and we couldn’t make sense of them on the piste map until we used them.
We couldn’t understand the distinction between Red and Blue runs, some blues had some quite steep parts and some reds seemed easy. I think mixed ability groups just using the piste map would struggle here without a local guide to tell them which was the easiest route.
We were worried about the cost of the mountain restaurants as this is an expensive area but we didn’t find any difference with other resorts and it was easy to avoid the ‘fine dining’. Even in the busier places the service was always quick and food was lovely. We only came across one place that was cash only, all the rest accepted card/Apple payment.
We would return to Lech as we think it was the best base, although Zurs seemed good for reaching out to all the other areas too. Overall, we loved the Arlberg and would definitely recommend it for confident intermediate skiers who like to go exploring!
