Oldie but Still a Goodie

点评：My older daughter used to go to Paul Bunya Land when she visited her grandparents, who live in Minnesota. My wife, younger daughter, and I had never experienced the place ourselves, though. So, while we were vacationing in the Brainerd area, we decided to check the place out.
Admission to the park was approximately $25 per person, which cost our family of four a little over $100 to visit. However, most of the rides and other activities are covered once you’re inside the amusement park. As you enter the park, you’re literally greeted by a ~30’ tall Paul Bunyan statue, who sits there for photo opportunities and conversation. Our kids had mixed responses to him talking, but it was a pretty cool feature.
Rides are what you’d expect to see at your standard traveling carnival, but everything was well-maintained and in working order. Lines were reasonable for the different rides, and the biggest delays were due to staff being double-booked to cover more than one area at a time. However, despite being mildly busy, the staff members were polite and patient with the kids (and parents).
Petting zoo was nice as well, although it could have used some cleaning and care. There’s also a “village” area, which has numerous buildings filled with knick-knacks and antiquities. Village was worth checking out as a break from the rides, but I’d probably not spend extra time and money on it if it weren’t already included with the admission.
