Punkaharju Ridge的点评
点评：Punkaharju Ridge is an esker formed by the Ice Age. This ridge is situated in the former municipality of Punkaharju in Savonlinna (28 kilometers from the city center) and it is one of Finnish national landscapes. It is easy to get there by public transport. Just take a train from the city center of Savonlinna to the railway station of Lusto or take a bus to Harjutie, Valtionhotelli or Harjualue.
You find both a panorama road named Punkaharju Scenic Ridge Road and several beautiful walking or hiking trails there (e.g. Harjureitti Trail, Topeliuksen Polku Trail, Kuikonsalpa Trail and more trails in Punkaharju Arboretum). Views are very beautiful because the ridge separates two smaller lake areas of Lake Saimaa (Pihlajavesi and Puruvesi). I loved Pususilta Bridge (literally Kissing Bridge) very much. You also find some historical memorials and good swimming beaches in the area.
Services are quite good. Both charming hotels (Hotel Punkaharju and Hotel Kruunupuisto) and good restaurants (Ravintola Metsä and Ravintola Kuhankeittäjä) are available but check opening hours especially outside the high season of a summer. And don't forget the Finnish forest museum Lusto and Art Gallery Aseman Taidelaituri. Read separate Tripadvisor reviews about them.
I think that Punkaharju Ridge is a perfect area for relaxing in all seasons. I will travel there later again.
