点评:Fort William Henry is a tourist trap.
You have to pay to park. $10.
Admission is an incredible $25 per person or $20 for most kids. That's highway robbery.
I've been to forts everywhere. I consider myself a semi-subject matter expert on both forts and 18th century American history. The fort is a 1950s or 1960s rebuild of the original. At first glance, it looks authentic but upon closer inspection there are a lot of inaccuracies or sacrifices to modernity.
Sure, there are a couple of interpreters in assorted period dress. There was a ranger/Indian (his attire was a mixture of both) who was genuinely knowledgeable. There were others that didn't have the correct clothing or were only going through the motions. So your experience will vary in that regard.
The museum is a farce. It's surely not accredited.
It consists of a few archaeological artifacts from Fort William Henry, several reproductions and then exhibits of varying quality that included from exhibits untouched since the 1950s or 1960s. The museum itself is mostly one floor across two separate buildings.
Do you learn something about the period? Yes. Absolutely.
But it's not worth $25 or $20 per person.
