Ciurlionis museum = great Kaunas picture gallery = bad

点评：I have mixed feelings writing this review.
The M.K. Ciurlionis museum is wonderful in every way. Welcoming, spacious, great exhibits, I loved it. I recommend it to everyone.
Then I wanted to leave a review about The Kaunas Picture Gallery (Subdivision of M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum) - it's not on trip advisor, and I found that it's a subdivision of this museum. This made me sad, because the experience was the opposite.
The Kaunas Picture Gallery is NOT family friendly. We sad the Soviet childhood exhibit. No problem in the basement, that was okay, though the exhibit was really lacking some explanation signs, more details, etc. Then we went up the stairs, went around a bit, and an older woman very directly harassed me because we had a stroller.
NOWHERE - not by the stairs, not by the door, was it said we couldn't have a stroller. No one told us, while we were carrying it up the stairs (no elevators). The Woman wouldn't even step aside to let me turn around - she stood in front of me, to back up, as if I had done something wrong. When I asked why we couldn't have a stroller, she said "this is a museum". I said that we had just been to the Ciurlionis museum with a stroller and she just repeated to get out.
It ruined our entire happy mood - the rest of the day, we were very frustrated. Being asked to leave kindly would have been one thing, but this woman treated us, essentially like we were purposefully doing wrong. For crying out loud, she wouldn't even step aside to give us room to turn around! VERY unpleasant.
So, while the actual Ciurlionis museum is great, AVOID the Kaunas Picture Gallery associated with it.
