Living history - well worth the time to explore!

点评：This site is worth every penny of the admission fee and much more. Two exhibits were particularly impressive: the clock tower works and the history of migration from Hessen to the United States. We spent almost 4 hours walking through and visiting the exhibits. The number of buildings, both reconstructed and reproduced, is impressive. Overall, if you want to learn about the history of this area, and a great deal about how its history interacted with the world, this is a site you need to visit.
Note: before you enter the actual historical area, there are a number of shops and restaurants as well as a hotel that you can access for free. On the day we visited, there was a vendor selling local prepared foods and fresh vegetables and fruits. Although we did not buy anything, there were many locals taking advantage of truly local products, including honey and smoked wild boar meat.
