Impressive tourist trap with lots of walking

点评：Everyone recommends this place, and quite rightly - it is very impressive and well worth seeing. The tourist route tour lasts for 2 hours - for me it was perhaps a bit too long - but most people were very happy with that. The big cathedral is definitely the highlight. As others describe, there is a lot of walking, not much opportunity to sit down, and it’s very crowded. Each tour group is right on the heels of the one in front and in that sense it is quite like a conveyor belt. However the worst part for me was at the end. The tour finishes but then you have to queue up just to start the walk to the lifts which takes another 25-30 minutes. I had naively thought the tour would finish at the lifts but no. I thought we’d never get there. The lift itself was fine - a normal lift holding 18 people - but it comes out at the miners route entrance, so be aware that you don’t come out where you started. It’s also warm underground so no need at all to dress up in warm clothes.
