点评：Victoria Harbour is overlooked by the ruins of Dunbar Castle . There are amazing views of Bass rock and on a clear day you can see the East Neuk of Fife.
The harbour has a colourful history which is mapped out in stones leading to the Battery.
One such story is about the Countess called Black Agnes. Agnes is said to have defended the harbour against English invasion with only her servants to help her. There is a restaurant with her namesake on the High Street selling good traditional food, which I highly recommend.
Recently, the harbour was battered by storm Babet, with powerful waves crashing against the harbour walls and leaping ferociously in the air. The scene was dangerous but somehow very beautiful.
The town is only 10 minutes walk away where you can find coffee shops, fish and chip shops and various restaurants.
The Creel restaurant is a 2 minute walk and worth paying a little extra for. Plus there are vans situated around the harbour selling teas, coffee, fresh fish and other food such as toasties and crepes.
The leisure centre is situated on a small hill overlooking the harbour and the swimming pool has a view to the sea. Children love the flumes and wave machine and there are small slides and equipment to keep the toddlers amused.
Outside are strategically positioned benches at the top of the hill to capture the wonderful views.
The carpark is free and Campervans and Motorhomes can park overnight and also around the harbour but there might be a small charge for that.
Toilet and shower facilities are available in the leisure centre until closing time and the cafe is open to the public.
It’s a beautiful old harbour, well worth a visit.
