点评：Nice reconstruction of an early 18th century British fort. Darien in the early 1700’s was a disputed area between the British and Spanish. The British established a small fort here to control the area.
The fort was only here six years and may not have been a great site because the site was abandoned and many soldiers posted here died. The area was resettled by James Oglethorpe about a decade later.
Great place to take kids as they can run around and explore the reconstructed buildings. Small museum and a ten minute film explain the history of the site.
Take bug spray as the site sits right next to a marsh.
Admission is $8.25/adult and $4.75 for kids. Short 20-25 minute drive from St Simons. While in Darien, take a few minutes to drive around and see all of the historic churches and the beautiful Vernon Square just off the main road.
