点评:This bridge has been described as world-famous (and was also designed by a world-renowned Spanish architect). After seeing the bridge in person, I’d have to agree the bridge is impressive. The sundial is a working sundial but due to the immense heat, we didn’t stop and observe any movement. We also didn’t take advantage of hiking around the area.
I’ve seen literature highlighting the floor being glass and perhaps folks would get the impression you could see through it, but you can’t. The glass is akin to green bottle glass and so you can see the girder foundation but you can’t see through to the ground. A bit disappointing but I can see how some folks may be unwilling to walk on it if the floor was truly see-through.
The Sundial Bridge is next to the Turtle Bay Exploration Park. We didn’t patronize the Bistro or Museum but we did stop at the Store, which, although small, carried a wide variety of items. We browsed and picked up more than I expected we would, so it’s worth a stop. And a good reason to get out of the 100+ degree weather.
If you’re heading in that direction, I’d recommend a stop to see the Sundial Bridge in person. You can’t climb it but you can walk across it and if you’d like, you can sit and get proof the earth is rotating. Best of all, it hits the best price point – free! If you have kids, there is a museum, but not free, if I recall correctly.
