Wonderful setting for watching dance shows

点评：My husband and I enjoyed our first visit to the Pillow, to see UK's The Royal Ballet at the Henry J. Leir (outdoor) stage - wonderful dancers at a beautiful setting! It was our first time to west Massachusetts, as our daughter was working at the Pillow for the first time this summer. Seating is first come first served; with the line forming about 45 minutes before the show started, they let us in 30 minutes before. You sit on wood benches with backs. If there's bad weather, they'll move the outdoor performance indoors, but we didn't get a chance to see a show on their indoor stage.
It doesn't take long to walk around the beautiful all-outdoor campus, visit the Welcome Center and go through the small gift shop. We didn't eat there, though there looked to be good food options, an expensive sit down dinner in the tent (reservations required, menu did look good!) and a cafe too, with food you take away to eat at the picnic tables, or somewhere else on campus. You can dress pretty casual, it was very warm so my husband was in shorts, I wore a dress with sandals. You'll want to bring/wear bug spray for sure, and sunscreen. We wore hats, which we took off halfway through the show as the sun set behind the trees.
I highly recommend visiting the website first, buy tickets to any popular performances you want to see; we had our tickets waiting for us at will call and make meal reservations in advance if you want. We had a late dinner in downtown Lee where we were staying, about a 25 min drive. That's the closest city to the Pillow, so plan meals accordingly. We hope to come back again!
