Mount Holyoke College的点评
点评：This private women's college is a treasure. One walk through the campus and you will understand why it is ranked as one of the prettiest college campuses. With two lakes on the grounds one will be taken in by Nature and the beauty of its Architecture. The majestic red brick buildings blends beautifully with the landscape. In a way, I found myself thinking of Harry Potter as I was walking around campus. This college was established in 1837 and it is the Oldest Women's College in the US. When it first opened Albert Bierstat donated one of his works to the College (Hetch Hetchy Canyon) Needless to say, it has a wonderful art program. The Library and the chapel were standouts to me. The Williston Memorial Library has an atrium that was designed like the Medici Library in Florence, Italy. In the middle of the atrium stands a tower of 450 pieces of hand blown glass shimmering with gold leaf. The Abbey Memorial Chapel was completed in 1938. The chapel was merged with the original Mary Lyon Chapel. Today, the college is part of a 5 College consortium. The five schools include; Mount Holyoke, Amherst, Smith, Hampshire, UMass of Amherst. Student can take classes in any of the 5 colleges. There is a regular Bus system for the students who need transportation. I enjoyed reading the words of founder Mary Lyons that said, "“Go where no one else will go, do what no one else will do”.
