点评:A very nice setting for an open air museum. Museum needs to improve its upkeep if they want to ask such high entrance fees. Signs in Estonian, English and Russian. Don't miss the suggested walking routes on the back of the entrance building.
Still I can only rate it as "poor". Read on!
I liked the Kolchose house best. In the basement there are two slide shows showing photos of buildings from different places and different times. A video tells about the history of Estonia.
On the ground and upper floor are flats from different times. A video at the entrance gives the history of the former inhabitants.
Many houses in the museum are just shells. You cannot enter them. In same there is staff but except for one (at the Pulga tenant farm. This lady is great! She shared so many interesting facts and obviously loves her job.) they are busy with their mobile phones and do not care about the visitors. I expected differently reading the museum's website.
There are a load of information boards in Estonian only. So bring your phone to translate if you do not read Estonian. For the entry fee of EUR 18.- I expected differently.
In wet weather the paths get very soggy. They are poorly engineered and have lots of puddles.
An absolute disgrace is their rabbit keeping. That's they way it has been done in the 1970. It is cruel and totally unacceptable, also as the museum sets an example to families and children. The needs of the animals are in no way met. There are some countries in the world where I would not expect better. But Estonia with now over 30 years of independence was not one of them.
I am sorry I supported this with my entrance fee.
