点评：My wife and I visited Vilnius with a group of some 30 people. Before seeing the old town and checking in to our hotel, we stopped here since it is on the outskirts of downtown. Despite this, the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul is one of the most important churches in Vilnius. This Roman Catholic church is a representative of the Baroque style and is particularly impressive for its masterful stucco work, which fills the entire interior of the church. A planned conversion of St. Peter and Paul Church into an Orthodox church failed due to the high costs, and the church remained Catholic. It was one of the few churches in the city that remained open for services during the Soviet era (1944–1989). After the cathedral was closed in 1953, it housed the tomb of St. Casimir until 1989. Today, the church serves the Lithuanian and Polish Catholic communities. The church is simpyl a must tour if visiting Vilnius and if interested in churches. We are and we loved it! It is amazingly white. The dome is superb as are the portraits of Peter and Paul. Of particular note is the boat decoration to honor Peter, the fisherman and the fisher of men. The altar is simple compared to the walls and ceiling. Make sure to visit the catacombs too. A wonderful visit to be sure!
