点评:We walked the Cateran Trail over four sessions from May 2023 to May 2024. Starting and finishing in the spring with one summer and one winter walk in between. The route is generally well way marked, but having OS Maps is a strong recommendation. The terrain varies greatly, from lovely well-made paths (Enochdhu to Kirkmichael), sections of road, but also rough and muddy sections. One diversion (due to logging) was particularly difficult. Good boots and equipment are essential. Logistically, it is quite challenging, as the sections start in quite remote places; two cars, or friendly family members to drive you, as pretty much essential.
Our favourite section was the high walk from Kirkmichael to Spittal of Glenshee. The path back into Kirkton of Glenisla is a slog, as is the muddy straight path south from Bridge of Cally. We would recommend the Cateran Trail, but be prepared, it is not an easy challenge to complete.
