Worth a day trip from Rome, great ancient city!

点评：We first visited in 2011 and now returned in 2025. Unfortunately it rained at first but cleared up and there was a lot to see.
A beautiful ancient city as expansive as Pompeii (we have seen both) and quite fascinating in its own right. Beautiful old villas with mosaic tile floors, temples, amphitheater, and many ancient buildings and sarcophagi.
Well worth seeing. Two trains (about an hour's ride from Rome center) change at pyramid station and go next door to do the change.
Just a few euros on train. (can use tap and go credit card)
We went on Free Sunday but i dont believe it is very costly to enter (maybe i heard 7euros?).
We had lunch in their cafe which is next to a bookshop. Good lunch and just five miles from FCO airport if you are coming from that direction (you can see planes fly over a lot)
